About Us

SERVICE AGENCY FOR RURAL WOMEN AND CHILDREN

SARWC Society aims to rehabilitate and re-integrate both physically and mentally disabled people in the Kolar District of Karnataka.

SARWC-Service Agency for Rural Women and Children is a non-profit making; non political social service organization registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act of 1960 on 03/07/1997 with a mission to provide vulnerable disabled children, women as well as the elderly with holistic engagement and empowerment programs to enable equitable growth in the society and ensure dignified as well as healthier lives for them. Founder Mr.P.Megharaju along with his fellow colleagues started the organization with a dream to work for the greater good and have ever since pursued this dream to make a difference in the lives of disabled individuals and create reformed social order. SARWC have been running a special residential school for mentally challenged children since 21 years at Kantharaja circle, Avani Road, Mulbagal taluk, Kolar district, and Karnataka state.

Rehabilitation center for mentally ill road side destitutes

We at SARWC have initiated a programme of rehabilitation of mentally ill road side destitutes with food, shelter, treatment, counseling, vocational skills training and re integration of them with their families. At present there are 22 such mentally ill road side destitutes in our campus.

Special residential school for mentally challenged poor and orphan children

We at SARWC have been running a special residential school for intellectually disabled / Mentally retarded poor and orphan children since 21 years in Mulbagal of Kolar district, Karnataka state. At present there are 104 such children in our campus who are facilitated with nutrition and hygienic food, shelter, special education, health care, therapies and job oriented life leading vocational skills trainings. As of the situation we are facing acute problem for the maintenance of the school in terms of dry rations, staff salary, educational materials, physiotherapy materials, clothes...etc. after the thunder hit of Covid-19 second wave, where as our target community is still suffering from the pandemic.

Employable skills training for mild mentally challenged youths

We have started a programme of employable skills training and permanent employment generation activities ( Sheltered workshop ) for mild mentally challenged youths who have come from ultra poor family backgrounds to ensure them an economic independence with social dignity. our main objective is to make them self reliant and as the contributors of the society without a burden.

SARWC society & Giftabled team have conducted 1day exposure trip to Antharaganga shrines in kolar.

SARWC society and Gift abled team have conducted one day exposure trip to Antharaganga shrines in Kolar. Our children enjoyed the event and were very happy to take our children to see a new world with birds, flowers, trees and a pleasant breeze of environment. We took 54 mentally challenged children for the exposure trip, in which there were intellectually disabled children, mild mentally challenged youths of sheltered workshop project of SARWC with teachers, other staff, chief functionary and Gift abled team.
